New ABC Store is Liquorific
The new Carolina Beach ABC store opened yesterday (August 19) and it is big. They've added 520 new products. 520! I didn't even know there were 520 different liquor products, let alone new ones.

ABC store, Carolina Beach
One customer was overheard saying "I need to bow down to the alcohol gods!"
(Let's not get carried away.)

Two Towns - One Debate - October 8

You're cordially invited to the 3rd Annual Snow's Cut Town Hall Debate. This year we will host one event for both the Carolina Beach and Kure Beach elections.

Mark your calendars for 6-9 pm, Thursday, October 8 at Shanty's Beach and Blues Club in Carolina Beach.

As always, it will be broadcast live on 106.3 FM the Big Talker and as always we will be getting the questions from you, the voters.

How Good is Your Bluegrass Band?
The 7th Annual Southern Coastal Bluegrass Festival is coming to Fort Fisher this September 19 & 20. If you play in a bluegrass band this is your chance to test your skills.

This year's festival will have a second stage for a wide open pickin' contest. Three local bands have already committed to taking part in the competition which will be held on Saturday the 19th.

The winner gets a set on the main stage on Sunday and will be invited back next year as a paid act. They'll also win a Sunday night gig at the Ocean Grill Tiki Bar. Call 612-1909 for details.

Who Wants to Buy a Bankrupt Condo Project?

On Friday, August 28, the properties that make up the bankrupt Arcadius project will be auctioned off. One potential buyer (though they won't be bidding next Friday) is the Town of Carolina Beach. They're looking at the Surfside as a possible location for a pier.

Notice how the sign says "Sells regardless of price!" Does anyone really believe that?

I might go out and bid $20 just for fun.
