So sorry to hear this news. We will keep you and Janet in our thoughts and prayers. You'll be back. Snows Cut is a very classy magazine. When one door shuts another will open for ya'll. Believe in yourselves.

PS I have every issue except 1 that I can't find.
In the short time that Marshall and I have known you and Janet, we have greatly appreciated all of the in-site you have given. We’re certainly going to miss Snow’s Cut Monthly and wish you the best. We’d love to enjoy one of those drinks with you this summer, so please stop by with the kids and see us.
Kelly Cooper
Hey Mike and Janet,
I have to say that you probably lasted as long as you did through a great sense of humor. We will truly miss your magazine. It is (was) an excellent effort, but you captured our hearts when you published "The Riggings, Between a Rock and a Hard Place". You were the only publication to show our point of view, and it was fair. I have several copies which I will cherish. Thank you for your efforts on behalf of Pleasure Island.
Cheryl Gammell and Patrick Moroney
Dear Mike and Janet,
I am sad at the loss of Snow's Cut, yet fully understand your decision given these difficult time and their effect on print media everywhere. Please know that your publications have raised the quality and profile of our island tremendously. Thank you so much for all that you've done and for creating your excellent PI Vacation Guide and Coupon Book. The Chamber of Commerce would appreciate working with you to promote the Vacation Guide and Coupon Book, as well as continue to partner with you on BWM summer events.
Best Wishes for a Successful 2010,
Alan Pacek
Booooooooooooo Hooooooooooooooooooo!!I will Miss You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Love,

The loss of Snow's Cut Monthly is a tragedy. Far from being mad, I'm very sad for the loss, and I'm quite aware of the incredible dedication and hard work that's been put into bringing this fantastic publication to the area.

Mike and Janet,
In the short time I have known you I have developed a great sense of respect for your impressive skills and talents. You advice as we put the Friends organization together has been, and will continue to be, important both organizationally and to me as an individual.I don't know what pathway you've decided to follow but I know with your talents and solid work ethic you will be successful. And, I hope that with our relationship it is still just the beginning stages of a long-term collaboration.
Wishing you only the best, I am
Paul Laird
Mike & Janet,
We don’t even live in CB/KB but always looked forward to the next exciting issue of SCM. We think highly of the folks in CB/KB, enjoy doing business with many of them and that is what drew us to your fine magazine. We were genuinely shocked when Frances Weller broke the news on WECT tonight at 5:00PM, but sadly we also understand the predicament you find yourselves in. Hopefully better days will arrive sometime soon and you can pick up where you left off. We have always supported you within the community and we hope you don't pack up and leave town. We will watch for your names to appear on some future project.Best wishes to you both, and NO, we don't want a refund. Be sure to protect your rights to the name "Snow's Cut Monthly!"

Dear Mike and Janet,
You don’t know me, and I’m afraid I wasn’t a subscriber of your magazine (we used to take Gourmet, but that was it). However, a copy was always on the coffee table out front at my dentist’s office. She’s Dr. Amanda Cerqueira who I’m sure you know. Instead of the gossip magazine they always provide for their patients, I liked to pick up Snow’s Cut Monthly. I was always impressed with the scope of your coverage, the professional quality of your copy, and the fine way you could tell so many good tales. I will miss you. Best wishes.
Yours,
Marie LeFebvre
We loved the Snow's Cut Monthly and are very sad to see it go! I bought a subscription in the summer of 2009, and I do not want my money back, I am just very sorry to see it go!!!! Please keep doing the monthly emails at least.

Mike and Janet,
From myself and my husband we thank you for a great local magazine. We live in Lynchburg, VA, and own a condo in CB and have come to love CB and Wilmington. Our only complaints about the magazine were that sometimes it came to our house after we left for the beach. We loved your "April fools" jokes, and agree that people need to lighten up; it's a shame that some can't discuss without getting too bent out of shape.Do not worry about balance of subscription, we just wish we were continuing to get magazine, and look forward to emails if they can continue. Perhaps e-magazine is the solution, especially to younger folk, but even to us "older folks".
Good luck,
Doris and Mike Humphries
Hey dude,
It’s been our huge pleasure to be your readers. We loved it from day one and we don't need a refund. In fact, I'll be buying y'all a drink next time I see you.
Stowe Blankenship
Dear Mike,
After reading your further explanation, Please don't bother to reply to my last email. Keep the subscription money. You have too much going on to bother with those types of refunds. Again, thank you for all of your hard work.

Mike and Janet,
Sorry to hear about the demise of Snow’s Cut. It was a very good publication that my wife & I looked forward to receiving in the mail here in PA. Incidentally, it was 17 degrees this morning and we have about 3 inches of snow on the ground. Now you know one of the reasons besides the articles we enjoyed Snow’ Cut. It warmed our hearts! I guess we’ll just have to spend more time in Kure Beach.Loved your “complete explanation.” I laughed out loud. Too bad it’s not enough to revive the mag. Nice job!
In Peace,
John Shalanski
Really sorry to see you go. I only wish you the very best in the coming years. You will be missed. It was great while it lasted. Be Proud you all did a great Job. And thank you.

Dear Mike,
We are so sorry that your wonderful magazine will not continue. We bought property in CB a little over two years ago, and you have been our introduction and lifeline to the community activities. Thank you so much for all you have achieved, and never downplay the contribution you have made to us all. I wish you and Janet the success you both deserve and have earned in whatever pursuits you follow. It is so sad that the economy deprives you of the opportunity to display your talents, and the rest of us from enjoying them. I know that you will continue to find ways to inform and entertain, and I wish you good fortune.
Sincerely,
Jerry Ferguson
Mike,
I am sorry to hear. I am sad to say that I just started supporting the SCM, recently and should have long before. If you ever get started up again, I will be a happy supporter!
Blessings in 2010.
Lisa Robinson
I am truly sorry - you are a great 2-some. I know you will come up with some other great ideas!

I'll miss the SCM.
Thanks for all you do,

Thank you for the time & hard work you put into your magazine to share with all of us. In the short time I have been receiving Snow's Cut, I have looked forward to it & truly enjoyed! Having just purchased in Kure Beach, I felt I was learning & being included in the history, political, upcoming events & future of the beaches. I am employed at a printing company & truly understand. I am sorry your lives have changed from something you were both so passionate about. My best wishes to you both.
Thank you,
Lynda Neilsen
Mike and Janet,
So sorry to hear this news since we have really enjoyed Snow's Cut Monthly and it has informed us of so much history about our beloved island. We have subscribed to this magazine since we first bought and now have retired and moved here permanently.Thank you all so much for the service and we have really enjoyed it !!!!
Ron and Jeannie Bond
Mike,
Very very sorry to hear it, but understand that yours is a tough job. My family and I bought a place in CB in 2005 and your magazine has kept us in touch with the history and happenings. We live in NJ and can only get down there 3 times a year so it was a great way to get the CB feel all year long.I hope I will be able to buy the Vacation guide long distance, but if not, I guess that is the way it goes. Best wishes to you and Janet and hope we have a chance to shake hands sometime – you both did a super job.
Regards,
Jim Van Arsdale
You guys had a good run and put out a damn fine magazine. Always enjoyed it!! It will be missed. Best of luck with future endeavors!!

Dear Mike and Janet:
We were greatly saddened to hear that you had to discontinue the magazine that has brought us so much enjoyment and useful information since it’s' inception. Thanks for the good times and, hopefully, you will find a way of filling the void with the resumption of SCM E-news in the near future.
Best Wishes and Good Luck,
John and Rosemary McGinley
Hi Mike,
I for one thought your magazine was awesome! I am sorry to hear you having to stop. I totally understand that you are saying about these hard economic times. So many folks are hurting and it looks like it is only going to get worst before better. Take care and God Bless yall for all the hard work you have done and joy you have brought to others!
Bobby Jean
Sorry to hear about the Snow's Cut Monthly but it is a difficult time for a small business. Hope you will be able to continue with an e version but I understand if not. I always looked forward to each issue.
Mary Gibbs
I have a special place in my heart for you and Mike...you two enabled me to stretch and do some things I didn't realize were possible and connect with people that have become very dear. Let's stay in touch!
Love,
Elaine Henson
Sorry to hear this Mike and know that you both worked hard.Keep your chin up and don't let it get you or Janet down.
Jack Lynch
Congratulations on what has been a valiant effort. You brought a piece of magic.....and understanding.....of Pleasure Island and in particular Carolina Beach. I always looked forward to my issue and in particular, since we are not full time residents......it brought a piece of the beach to Charlotte. One might even say that you were able to ‘put some lipstick on the pig’! I wish you the best of luck going forward and hope that somehow you will have a hand in journalism with a continuing emphasis on this part of the world.
Tom Gaffney
Thanks so much for the magazine you will be dearly missed. No refund needed.
Suzanne & Ray Sedelmeyer
Mike,
We're sad, not mad. Congratulations to you both, for fighting the fight. Your magazine was world class, battling world economics, and perhaps too small of a market. The newspaper and magazine world are on their ears right now. Total turmoil.
Thanks for the Quality Product you put together. It was very special to all of us on Pleasure Island (and us few Rednecks in Kure Beach). I hope to meet you some time in the future, and wish you the best of luck.
Regards from Dalian, China.
Rick Makrickas
Mike, Janet and crew,
I am truly sorry to hear that you will no longer be publishing Snow's Cut Monthly. It will be greatly missed. I appreciate all the hard work that went into its publication and have enjoyed every issue. We purchased a condo in Carolina Beach in 2002 while still living in Pennsylvania and eagerly awaited each issue as it allowed us to be part of the area when unable to visit for more than a week at a time on vacations.
My best to you all.
Alice O'Dwyer
Hey Mike,I'm real sorry to hear about SCM's discontinuation. Hopefully everything with align again in the future and you will be able to resume publication, if that's what you and Janet decide you would like to do. I wanted to thank you both for allowing me to intern with you for the past few months. I learned a lot that I'm sure will help me prepare for my future and I had a blast while doing it. I also have several articles to show as part of my portfolio, which will certainly help me stand out from the crowd of other job-seekers. While I've got plenty of copies of the October issue, I don't have any since then. I was wondering if you had any spare copies of the issues published since October so that I could add them to my portfolio, especially the January issue with the rice article (if it was printed yet).
Thanks,
Matt Jancer
So sorry to hear of the problems you have encountered with the SCM. Over the years we have greatly enjoyed the researched articles, jokes articles, coupons and local info. We enjoyed it for the "free" years, and then got a subscription. We have shared the issues and/or articles with friends and family out of town. Don't need a refund, just wanted to let you know we will miss SCM and appreciate the blood, sweat and tears you all put into it.
Thank you.
Judy and Byron Moore
Sorry to hear about your situation. You guys have been great. Keep your head upSincerely,Al BozartSorry to see you guys fall, Mike. I experienced the same thing ten years ago, with the two monthly mags I was publishing. In fact, it's probably what was most instrumental in convincing me to make the move to publishing books, and that has worked out okay (knock on wood). So chin up - there'll always be something out there for talented, creative and dedicated people. Like the old Mike Cross song says, "The Lord'll provide..."

Mike and Janet,
A heartfelt THANK YOU for all you've done for CB and KB thru your fine publication. I respect you and admire you for realizing when it is time to take a break or maybe stop entirely. Everyone is facing these types of decisions. Personally, I've had to make many really hard decisions last year and I can't even begin to tell you how proud I am of those decisions and the ability to do what had to be done. God bless you both and hope you're enjoying that drink. Thanks for the memories.......

Best of luck to you both. Joe and Alice Wright – Louisville Ky.I'm sorry to hear that, Mike. I've enjoyed your magazine, and this will leave a hole in the community and in our knowledge and understanding of the area. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

Dear Mike and Janet,
I am so sad to hear the news of your magazine being discontinued. I subscribed after picking up a free issue while on vacation at Kure Beach. I look forward every month to receiving my copy. It kept me in touch with the place I love to vacation every year. I understand your reasons, of course. The economic times are tough for many businesses and I am aware of the struggle many publications are having. Please know you have a very gratified reader in West Virginia that appreciated your efforts each month to publish a wonderful, unique magazine. Take care and blessings to both of you.
Sincerely,
Samantha Lusk
Dear Janet and Mike,
We are really sorry to learn that you are discontinuing the "SNOWS CUT" we really enjoyed it. Really professional. We wish you the best of luck in future endeavors. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both.
John and Dee McQuade
Sorry to hear this. We have enjoyed the magazine since we first started coming to CB in 2007. Our trips down will not be the same without it. Best of luck moving forward.
Greg Lutz
Mike and Janet,
Thank you so much for the years of great reading. When we moved to Wilmington, (just over the Snow’s Cut Bridge, so really pretty close to CB and KB where we spend our time and that holds our hearts), we discovered a really neat home town magazine called Snows Cut, that came right to our door! We’ve kept almost every copy and are thrilled to share all the history and stories with our friends and family that visit. You’ve helped educate us on our area and gave us some darn good history on where we now call home. So don’t let the ones that speak the loudest get you down because there’s a lot more of us that you’ve touched with SCM than you will ever know and we’re truly sorry to see this chapter come to a close. Best of luck on your future endeavors….
Carol and John Adams
I am truly sorry you will not be able to continue your magazine. I have truly lived and learned by what you printed and always knew what was happening. I wish you the best in whatever you decide to do next. It is very tough out there, but good luck with everything and thank you for what you have given to the people.
Shani Dilena
I know you said to spare you the I'm sorry's....but, I truly am sorry to see you go. I love the way you write....you are very talented...and extremely entertaining!! Just want you to know that you've put a smile on my face more than once when I've needed it. I won't continue on my "spheel"....but, thanks!

I am truly sorry to hear this but I am sure it has not been an easy decision for you and Janet. I have enjoyed working with both of you and really appreciate your hard work whenever I had to make a change in my ads. I sincerely hope that whatever you decide to do in the future will be both rewarding and your dream. Thanks again and I will miss Snow's Cut Monthly!
Best to you both,

Mike,
I am sorry to read this article saying that you have to shut down. I applaud your magazine and the manner in which your represented yourself and Pleasure Island. I realize that we did not advertise with you, but it was not because you were not doing a great job. It was just that we have a tight advertising budget and I could not make it work.Good luck in the future and turn your elbow for me and enjoy.Connie H. Dear Mike and Janet:
We could be upset, but then again, I look at what we did get: I am pleased at the news and updates you have continually provided to us over the last several years. Your news was invaluable. Initially we were quick to subscribe and have looked forward to each juicy issue replete with cultural history to include pirates and civil war stories. I especially appreciated your escapade hike from Ft. Fisher to Bald Head Island - "the boys and I are committed to making that hike but haven't done so yet. From our two units at Cabana and my government job here in Reston, VA, Thanks for the memories, the news, and the updates.
Sincerely,
Bill and Barbara Kelley
Thank you both for all you have done to give a little touch of class to the island. I certainly don’t expect a refund on my subscription. Thanks, Janet, for always putting our Kure Beach Community Center news in the magazine.Good wishes and God Bless You,

I am so truly sorry that you have had to give up the magazine. I so looked forward to receiving it every month. I truly hope you will continue the Snows Cut email news (not sure since you said it would return after a brief hiatus in your email, but on the website — said “not sure”). I wish you well in your future endeavors, and hope that one day, just maybe, we will see another Snows Cut (maybe quarterly instead of monthly).
Kindest regards,

Mike,
It is the only magazine that I read cover to cover, and you may recall that I ordered subscriptions for my Sisters and Son. I know they have become big fans, as well.It was a great product and will be missed. I’ll look forward to getting SCM E-news. Best of luck to you and Janet. It was a pleasure to get to know you a little through your product and the few times I was in the store.

Mike and Janet,
I'm so sorry to hear about Snows Cut. Being in Long Island, I looked forward to your posting, it always made me feel a little less homesick. I'll be in town at the end of the month, if your guys are still drinking I would love to buy a round.

Hi Mike & Janet,
I, as well as hundreds of others, really hate to hear this news. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your magazine and I know how much it will be missed.Take care and see you soon.

What can I say? How I will miss you. You were the only person I contacted in the Wilmington area that responded to get me started on how/where to research when we were thinking of moving here. And you have been helpful, informative and hilarious every since.I was optimistic when you asked for subscription money; I was worried when you sold the book store. Now I know. I will miss your information, your writing style, your choice of stories and photos, and your humor. Good luck with whatever your new venture and dreams may be.
Most fondly,
Ursula King
Dear Mike and Janet,

No! No! I may move away! Your zine was one of the best things about living here. Man, I'll miss it! What a bummer. But I certainly understand. Thanks for the memories. I will still treasure my past issues and brace for the comments from my "guests" over the summer wanting to know where the latest issues are. I guess I will have to fess up that I forgot to renew my subscription before you all gave it up. (sigh) Having owned my own business for 15 years, I know the struggles small businesses go through and with the printing industry being especially hard hit now I understand.I just won't have the printed piece to look forward to and have to admit there is something cold about reading type on a computer, and something mystical about turning pages, but I will continue to follow your e-news if you chose to continue that.
Sincerely,
Emily Daugherty
We are so sorry that you find yourselves in this financial predicament. We loved your magazine and, no, we do not want a refund. It was one of the best magazines in this area - topics well researched, interesting articles, great pictures and lots of helpful information. It was fun to find the off-beat humor here and there. You should be proud of your efforts. The economy may have done you in. Maybe giving it away for so long put people off. Whatever the reason, Snow's Cut Monthly will be missed in this household.
Joyce & Neil Bergmark
Well, Y'all -- It was a good run.
For me, I want to take this time to tell you both that I had a great time working for you and writing for the magazine. You were great editors, and I appreciate you more than I can express here for respecting writers' work (because you damn sure paid the best of anybody around.)
You made your dream come true, and maybe it didn't end like you wanted, but you did it. And that takes balls and heart and not many people will see a thing through until it becomes real. I've always admired that about the Hoffers.
I hope this means I'll be seeing more of you. Janet, if you want to come to Wilmington for a girls' night, let me know.
Take care + peace,
Marlowe Moore
Sorry about your decision, but understand your reasons. Please don’t worry about a refund for me…
Bob Gottesman
Mike,
I fully understand your situation about the costs and the comments some people can make about stupid stuff. We have enjoyed your "Local" publication and have learned our way around, with the help of your publication, in the last 3 years since we relocated from NE Ohio.
Thanks for your persistence and best luck to you and yours in the future.
Bob Williams
Hey Mike,
I'm really sorry to hear the news. We'll greatly miss the mag around here.
Mike Maume
We're so sorry to see SCM end. We live full-time in Virginia but own a home in Kure Beach and we relied on your magazine to provide us with news, information, history and yes, advertising! We discontinued our subscription to the Gazette because we felt that your publication provided us with well-written, informative news that gave us insight into the issues of the island. I loved your April Fool's escapades, even when I gullibly fell for them...Thank you for all of your efforts and we hope to see the SCM E-news continue. We'd also love to see 2 1/2 Men disappear....
Susan and Ron Longo
Congrats on doing what's best for you and your family. Cheers for the run you had. You contributed so much to the town and Michael and I thank you.
Dee Kirkbride
Thanks for your toil and effort. We'll miss it.

Hi Mike and Janet,
I am so sorry that you are discontinuing Snow's Cut Monthly. I live in Raleigh & own a vacation place in Carolina Beach. Your magazine helped me learn more about the area. I even gave a subscription to one of my friends who lives in Ohio and also has a vacation place at Carolina Beach. It is regretful that you are bothered by the people who complain about the way you wrote something, left out their name or whatever. I believe that truly is the "name of the game" in the publishing world. If no one complains, no one is reading your publication. Unfortunately, it seems you will often hear from the complainers and rarely from the people who are pleased. I do understand about the economy and the publishing business. I noticed that even Reader's Digest is cutting from 12 to 10 issues a year.Hope you keep up the SCM E-news... to help people like me keep up with what is going on in CB.I won't ask for a refund, and hope some day you'll start production again - even on bi-monthly basis?
Best wishes,
Ceil Blackwell, Raleigh
Best of luck – thanks for everything.

That SUCKS, but is unfortunately understandable. Good luck with your other ventures, and know your magazine will be missed.Katie LucasMike and Janet,I for one will miss your emails and the magazine, but I understand the difficulties we are all, no most of us, are suffering through. Tonight when I have my glass of wine I will lift in a toast to both of you for persevering through these times. I laughed with you on some of your jokes and actually fell for a couple for a few moments. My story about the April Fools Joke I fell for which came a few years ago when I lived in CT. Listening to the radio on my way home from work the commentator was discussing the sale of Arkansas to Canada. I was very upset with the US Government and couldn't wait to get home to talk with my son and daughter-in-law about this over dinner. I told them and my son simply said, April Fools and twenty years later he still reminds me and we laugh about it every April Fools Day. Refund! Are you nuts? I have enjoyed every penny I spent, in fact my whole office enjoyed it. My only regret is not reading your stories. Thanks to you both and hopefully some day people will realize the value of the written word. And, will stop complaining about everything.

Janet & Mike,
I’m heartbroken, but surely understand. This is a tough business.

Now I feel guilty. I intended to renew our subscription this month and just hadn't gotten around to it. I know one subscription wouldn't have made a difference in your decision, but just know that you will be missed. But the way, I'd be happy to subscribe to and pay for your e-news. I never keep up with activities in the area because I'm here for a week or two then back in Charlotte. In just a few months I've gotten used to your updates.
As to customer reactions, you would make a great school principal. That's the kind of stuff I had to put up with all the time. One never knew what might upset parents. Just have to grin and bear it.
Hope to see your publication back one day. I watched my long time paper, the Charlotte Observer, cut until it was almost bleeding. Thus far it has survived, but all publications appear to have short life expectancies. Just know that you helped me learn more about the history of CB than I ever would have and will truly miss "your baby."
Tish Harris
Dear Mike and Janet,
You don't know me personally, but I did subscribe and have loved every issue and all the email updates. I thought I was cool and in the know with the updates. You've made an ass out of me twice by catching me with the April fools joke that I then went on to tell people as something I read. I consider myself bright, but obviously gullible. But never complained - actually gave you credit for being such a fun magazine. I too have suffered along through this recession and feel your pain. More than you'll ever know. So with that said I hope your work and passion for the magazine will be able to be salvaged somewhere down the line. And at that point I wouldn't hesitate again to subscribe.
With that said my new lame job for $8 an hour starts next week. I hope what ever else you are doing to keep going pays more than that! How did we all get to this point? In any event, best of luck. No matter what you do, it seems obvious it would be successful.

Oh what very sad news for our island!! This had to be a very hard decision and I personally just wanted to say....Thank you for the great articles and quality magazine.....it will truly be missed!! Best of luck to you in all your future endeavors!Regards,Marcia RussellHello Mike,I was pretty bummed after getting your email. I'll really miss the magazine, but having been through a bit of adversity myself, I feel bad for you & what you're going through. You can forget about any refund on my account, but I want to be on the list if you ever feel you can publish the magazine again. As for the e-news, I'll look forward to it...can you put the monthly tide chart in it?
Best,
Herb Harriss
Dear Janet & Mike,
We will certainly miss Snow's Cut Monthly -- you provided a unique, informative and enjoyable publication. If you ever decide to pick it up again, or start a new literary venture, please keep us in mind. We wish you and your family all the best.
Sincerely,
Azariah Solomon
Mike,
This breaks my heart, seriously. I hope you guys continue with the email version, I look forward to reading that more than you know. Please let us know if you guys need anything; childcare, help moving/burning stuff, or just a good bottle of whiskey. I hope you aren't planning to uproot and do something crazy like move to Maryland...Hope to see you this weekend.
Johnny Johnson
Dear Mike and Janet,
I really am sorry to hear this. You've done a great job and deserve all the compliments you have received over the years. I was really proud to be in the audience when you received the Chamber award at the Entrepreneur Awards Breakfast. Once more---you deserved it. You should feel very proud about what you have done.Don't let the bad guys get you down. There's something better ahead for you. There always is. Janet did such a nice job when she interviewed me way back about real estate, my family and my late son. I've never forgotten how kind and genuinely interested she was. I wish you guys all the best!

Mike & Janet,
If you were older (like me) I would tell you to join me in retirement in Florida. Keep in mind that you are not responsible for the recession. This is not your "fault". So, just press on.
Best of luck to you,

So very sorry to get this news. If I were there and not snowbound in Ohio I would be buying the drinks for the two of you. As I expressed a few months back when you apologized for the delay because of printing problems, the journalism field, although exciting bears no external rewards. Having been in and out of the publishing and news business since the mid-60's, I bear many scars. You can be proud of the effort you both put forth. The many hours spent yielded an exceptional periodical, despite what the discontents had to say. To hell with them - which would be an appropriate reward. I will be back in the area the last two weeks of May and would be honored to meet the two of you and perhaps, tip a few. My best to you both but fair warning, you won't be able to escape it- the ink is not yet dry and it is in your blood.I'm so sorry that you have had to make this decision. SCM was a glossy, classy publication that we enjoyed so very much. You delivered a little bit of paradise to us in the frozen tundra of Illinois. We will miss it and look forward to a more informative SCM e-news in the very near future... I hope! Wishing you the best in the time to come.

Hi Mike,
I'm so sorry that you will not be able to continue with the Snow's Cut Monthly. I have always enjoyed the magazine and subscribed to it even though I live in Wilmington (Monkey Junction really) so I will really miss it. I did not get my full subscription but that is ok since it was a pretty reasonable magazine subscription compared to other subscriptions.Just hang in there and I wish you both the best for the New Year.Pat SimmonsMike and Janet,I want to share how appreciative I am of your efforts with this magazine. Times are hard for many of us. As much as I hate it, I understand that you have had to make this difficult choice. I wish that I could have been more supportive with my advertising, as I felt it was a worthwhile media. As for the public, there will always be the asses you just won't ever please. Some people look for things to upset them, they are just miserable people.I have thoroughly enjoyed your magazine and wish you both the best. I look forward to future e-news.
Kindest Regards,
Tammy Ebersole
Mr. and Mrs. Hoffer,
I was very sorry to receive your recent email regarding the discontinuation of Snow's Cut Monthly. Having relocated here nine years ago must say your articles regarding the area provided me with many moments of enjoyable reading. My sentiments have also been expressed by many "natives".Please know that you and your staff’s efforts are indeed appreciated by many of your subscribers and readers. Please accept my thanks and best wishes to you in your future endeavors. Just as the boardwalk came back so may SCM.
Sincerely,
Michael L. Younkins
What a shame! We really enjoy the remaining SCM E-news, and look forward to seeing it re-emerge. All the best,
Jean M. R. Hal
lI did subscribe, so I hope my "I'm sorry" is acceptable. Please consider any "refund" due me as a contribution toward all those free issues. I've really enjoyed the magazine and wish you well. Happy New Year!
Pam Jones
I am sad to see your magazine go, I truly looked forward to it every month. As far as my paid subscription balance, keep it, consider it a tip for a job well done.
Best of luck for the future.
Leo L. Suarez
Mike and Janet,
Both Brant and I are so disappointed that you are giving up the magazine. We love it, but we do know how difficult it is to make it in today’s market. We really hope this is temporary and that you’ll be back on the stands very soon.
Sincerely,
Joyce Barnwell
Mike,
Sorry to hear the news. I fully understand the reasoning and how difficult a decision like that is to make. I wish you and Janet continued success in the vacation guide and coupon books. Thanks for your support as well. Now to start putting my leftover copies of SCM on Ebay!Hope to see you out in the water more this summer, although, I won't be as lucky...clinical rotations will consume my summer, but I will have to get wet occasionally just to stay sane!
Jack Andros
Mike and Janet,
Sorry to hear about the magazine. We appreciate all the hard work and time that you put into a periodical unique and specific to CB. Our best to you both and thank you for everything you did to make Snow's Cut a great resource for the island.
Best,
The Owners of Surf House
That's sad to hear. I always enjoyed your stuff. I can totally relate about the pressures of publishing and the random acts that can set people off. Thanks for making me smile and best of luck to your team.

I am going to miss Snow's Cut Monthly because I felt that was the real information about our island not the rumor or bias that comes to us every week. Thanks for doing such a good job for so long. Keep up the good work with your other projects. I will look forward to the e-news.
Mary Anne Martin
Thanks for hanging in for so long. I looked forward to reading each one and will miss the SCM. The SCM made Carolina Beach a better place.
Best of luck,
Tom Whitaker
Mike and Janet,
I am so sorry to hear you are closing the doors, but thanks for a great magazine while it lasted. Congrats on following your heart. I look forward to hearing about where you plan to invest your talents next. I will have a drink for you today!

Mike and Janet:
I am so sorry to hear that you will be discontinuing SCM. I must say that that was one publication I really looked forward to reading. It was a quality publication, educational, informative and entertaining (especially the editor’s letter). But, I do understand and will look forward to next year’s vacation guide and coupon book.Aimee ZimmermanMike, Sorry to hear that. It stinks. The economy stinks and publishing the old fashioned way - the way we do it - will
never be as satisfying as the new way.
Best of luck,
Daniel Norris
I am truly saddened! I have really enjoyed this publication! I am so sorry! Our family has a residence on Pleasure Island...it is my favorite place in the world! You did a great job representing the island!
Morgan Jackson
Mike and Janet,
I CAN just imagine how you feel, and I'm sorry this had to happen. SCM has been a shining light, even highlight, for the island and all of us fortunate enough to have read both the 'zine and your emailed tidbits.Thank you.
Bettie Slusser
So sad about that, but I understand. Y'all did great work.
Best wishes,
Susan Block
Hey Mike,
Sorry to read this buddy. But one thing's for sure: You and your wife had a dream to launch this magazine and you made it happen. Most people never have that kind of courage and only talk about living their dream "one day." You both will always be glad that you tried and you made it happen.
Steve
Wow, this has made me very sad. Having SCM on Pleasure Island made it more of a community, and gave me something that I was proud of to hand to friends and family when they visited so they could learn more about where I lived. But I know that you guys have been saints to carry on for so long. If, by chance, you do decide to ever start up again, I'd be happy to offer my web and technical skills to you on a volunteer basis. I'm a web systems admin librarian and all around technology person at UNCW and could maybe help somehow with your website, or other technology needs. And we live in KB.
Thanks for providing such a great service to us all this time.
Laura Wiegard
Mike,
I'm so sorry to hear about the magazine. You guys are so great. I'll never forget the weekend we redid the restaurant. Let’s get together over a glass of vino and cry in our wine (beer). One door closes another one opens. Good luck in any future venture
Your friend,

I am SO SORRY. You guys did an amazing job and produced a QUALITY product. I'm afraid the economy got you, as it has so many special things. Did the Jan-Feb issue go to press? Oh, and if you come across an October issue Please send it my way so we have a complete run in our library.
Rebecca Taylor
All I can say is bummer... I'll miss SCM!!! Do I have to take the sticker off my car??
Talk soon,
Jody Lamberto
Dear Mike and Janet,
We are truly sorry to learn that you are discontinuing Snow's Cut Monthly. We learned an enormous amount from reading SCM – regional history, natural history, local politics – all presented with interesting photos and visuals that expand on the articles themselves. We've saved all our copies of the magazine since its inception because they provide so much background information on the region – information that doesn't seem to be available anywhere else. I feel honored to have been a contributor and appreciate your interest in supporting local writers and photographers.
It's sad to see a great magazine like Snow's Cut Monthly end. We hope that some breathing space (and a rich benefactor!) will help you to revive it at some point. It is the best local/regional resource around and you should be proud of what you've done for the whole Cape Fear area.
Thank you so much for all your hard work, dedication and your vision for the community. We appreciate what you've done with Snow's Cut Monthly and wish you the best.
Nancy Gadzuk & Andre' Blouin
We'll really miss the magazine...looked forward to it every month. It kept us in touch with our new found second home. We learned so much about Carolina Beach and even enjoyed your April fool's jokes. Never too many ads...we liked to watch for new businesses and things to do. Please apply our subscription refund to the re-start up of the magazine sometime in the future...we can hope! It is a truly beautiful, professional community magazine. Thanks for many hours of enjoyment!
Steve and Susan McBride
Thank you.
